Assessment
Once you have contacted me with a view to entering into therapy, I will, where appropriate, suggest that we meet for a 50 minute mutual assessment session. Usually only one assessment session is necessary and I make no charge for this. However, there are circumstances in which the assessment process requires more than one session, and a fee is payable.
Assessment sessions offer a space for us both to explore whether working together is likely to be helpful to you, or whether alternative forms of support would be more beneficial. It’s also a chance for us to negotiate a therapeutic and practical contract and for us to get a sense of the way we might work together.
Issues usually covered in the assessment process are:
Suitability: Does what you want from psychotherapy or counselling match with what I can offer?
Time: Are we able to find a regular weekly time to meet?
Payment: I will explain my charges and cancellation policy at the outset so that, if you decide to continue, you are clear about the financial commitment involved. Currently, my fee per session is £45.
This will also be opportunity for you to raise any concerns that you may have in relation to the therapy process. You might find that some of your initial queries are addressed within the FAQ section of the web-site.
